Radical Water Bike Show(Sunday, April 23, 2006, Stratford, Conn.) Bridgeport Harley-Davidson held it's second annual Radical Bike Show in a record breaking rainstorm. Despite flooded roads and traffic tie-ups, most all the builders scheduled attended. Hundreds of spectators braved the storm for a close-up view of rolling sculptures from the finest builders in New England and New York. Official reports from the weather station at Sikorsky Airport (less than half-a-mile from Bridgeport Harley) recorded 5.28 inches of rain from 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. A 290-foot-long tent protected the builders, their creations and fans. It covered the entire back parking lot of Bridgeport Harley-Davidson. Other vendors and attractions were moved inside as the dealer's service areas served as display booths. The Easy Rider movie replica bikes were on the showroom floor. Rowe Performance bikes were in the launch pad, so named because that's where all new bike owners take possession of their Harleys at the Stratford, Conn., dealership. Football stars Jon Runyan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Matt Light of the New England Patriots both attended the show and signed autographs. They appeared courtesy of Rowe Performance which built custom choppers for both stars. Hooters girls circulated through the crowd handing out coupons and promoting Hooters of Milford's weekly bike cruise nights starting May 12th. The girls in their signature hot pants and scoop tee shirts even braved the cold and drafty builders' tent to help with the awards presentations. Indian Larry Legacy, Brooklyn, NY, won the People's Choice Award by a very slim three votes. Accepting the $1,000 prize, Keino turned around and handed the check to volunteers from the Kick It Cancer Ride. East Providence, RI's 624 Kustoms was second in the People's Choice voting and Tommy Gun Choppers of Branford, Conn. was third. Builder's Choice, voted on by the builders themselves, was split three ways between: Chopper Works of Milford, Conn.; Full Metal Choppers/Biker Barn of Port Jeff Station, NY; and Hogs & Rods of Shrewsbury, Mass. RPM Choppers, New Windsor, NY, won the Connecticut Cruise News Choice award. A special thanks goes out to the Bridgeport HOG Chapter volunteers who seemed to be everywhere at once helping with the show. Many of them spent most of the day in their rain suits, directing traffic and helping the builders unload and load their bikes and displays and tee shirts and parts and more. Click Here for
